Group Recreation - Orienteering
The Woodstock Inn & Resort offers Orienteering, an adventure-based activity designed for groups. This outdoor activity is ideal for business groups and social gatherings looking for a more relaxed event to complement the formal aspects of an agenda.
As part of Orienteering, individuals or teams guide themselves, on foot, over original carriage roads and through Marsh-Billings-Rockefeller National Historical Park as they locate markers at set map coordinates. Success in team building comes about from using effective communication and keeping to a course schedule.
During the spring, summer, and fall Orienteering takes place within two miles of the Resort in Marsh-Billings-Rockefeller National Historical Park. In winter, the program is usually conducted adjacent to The Woodstock Inn & Resort's Nordic Center; cross-country skis and snowshoes are provided.
Orienteering is facilitated by John Wiggin, a former U.S. Naval officer with the Underwater Demolition Teams (now known as the SEALS) and a Yale Forestry School graduate.
