Summertime Fun for families and more...
Vermont is amazing in the summer as the greenery is so very lush and the beauty so great! From family getaways to couples escapes, this is a season offering much activity and something to entice any type of adventurous soul. Our Red Barn dinners have begun to grow in popularity for their unique atmosphere and savory menus, our Orvis Endorsed Fly Fishing guides are available to teach anyone and to go anywhere, the Athletic Club has spruced up its tennis programming and added new fitness equipment, the outdoor pool will be ever so inviting, and the programming at Billings Farm & Museum is cultural bliss.
New in July will be the downhill mountain biking at our Suicide Six Elemental Bike Park. The whole family will love this experience as you travel on the chairlift with a purpose-built mountain bike and take a ride down the flow trail that makes for a smooth ride. Also our new Tennis Academy for juniors is in store for the avid junior player.
Summertime in Woodstock, Vermont is a cool time to enjoy our walking village and ever-wondering trails of nature’s kingdom. Strolling down, running alongside and swimming in the Ottaquechee River is just steps away. Come to the mountains for a refreshing visit.
Feel the synergy of tradition meld with the modern comforts of today as you reclaim your sense of well being in the beauty of our surroundings.
Over the past few years, we have dedicated our efforts to adding more activity and programming to entice the entire family to want to come to Woodstock. Although the kids (and sometime mom and dad) can get stuck in our retro game room all morning or evening, they won’t want to miss the outdoor fun throughout the daytime. With natural flowing streams and our outdoor pool, a hot day is well spent in the water. And, our new cruiser bikes will allow the family to traverse backroads and woods with ease while taking in the striking scenery.
However, let’s get down to business. Have you ever handled a Harris Hawk? This will amaze the whole family at our resort’s New England Falconry Center. Golf, Tennis, and Fly fishing programming includes everyone and every ability. Challenge each other to be the first to climb Mt. Tom or run around the Pogue in Vermont’s only National Park. See and touch the live animals at Billings Farm & Museum and learn about farming while enjoying their very own homemade ice cream.
Just down the road there is an indoor rock climbing wall, Artistree Community Arts center, and Killington Ski Area’s summer activities and more. And, on a rainy day, our indoor pool and game room are a plus and the movie theater is walking distance away. At the end of the day, Chef has a menu for everyone and every taste. We save the best for last with an after dinner treat offering s’mores at our South Garden fire pit.
Orvis Endorsed Fly Fishing Lodge
Did you know that we are an official Orvis Endorsed Fly Fishing Lodge? You bet! Our team of experts will guide the established angler to some of the best stream spots in Vermont or take on the beginner teaching basic fly fishing techniques.
We are fully equipped with Orvis rods and reels and anything else you may need. We also have a membership at a Mecawee Club, a private fishing club that is located nearby on a picturesque property with a Trout stocked pond and guide boats. The Club is a great place to learn and find plenty to catch.
“Many men go fishing all of their lives without knowing that it is not fish they are after.”
What’s in a Game Room?
Often, if you slip down to our Game Room early in the morning you may find one or two people there enjoying a cup of coffee and playing video games. Who might that be? Dad! Yes, the 1950s repurposed pinball machines get more action from the kids, but Dad is playing Defender from the 1980s or running away from the ghosts of Ms. Pac-Man.
The kids also love the pool table and the 20-foot long shuffle board game; a nice departure from today’s mini screens that can be very distractful. A family competition on the 6-foot Scrabble board can make for an exciting evening. With six TVs placed around the walls, you can catch all the sports games and more while indulging in the activity of this most popular spot at the resort.
For a casual evening meal, ordering food and drinks in the game room from Richardson's Tavern can make for a great day or night for all.
