Woodstock VT Film Series: The Librarians
January 3 & 4 | 3 PM
The Librarians follows a courageous group of librarians who become unlikely defenders of democracy amid an unprecedented wave of book bans sweeping Texas, Florida, and beyond. When the “Krause List” targets 850 titles, many focused on race and LGBTQIA+ stories, censorship spreads nationwide. Facing harassment, threats, and laws that criminalize their work, these librarians band together to protect the freedom to read and the principles of the First Amendment. By tracing the movement from local school board meetings to national efforts, The Librarians reveals how controlling ideas means controlling communities, and why the fight for intellectual freedom has never been more vital.
Q&A with producer Janique Robillard following the January 3 screening.
