Spring is Still Sweet
You know the saying, “life is like a box of chocolates…” Well in Vermont, April's weather is like a box of chocolates, you never know what you’re going to get. There will be sunny days where the spring flowers reach up to the sky, and the next could bring snowstorms that blanket the ground with excitement, or rain that nourishes the earth for the summer ahead, and everything in between. But, like a box of chocolates, every day is still sweet. Some of that sweetness comes from maple syrup as local sugarhouses produce your favorite pancake topping or find sweet deals on our sugar season getaways through the end of the month. As sure as an April snowstorm, we know sunny days will follow as our team prepares for summer activities like golf, biking, and gardening. We hope you’ll join us to find your own sweetness this spring!
Truly Unique Fishing Trips
Fishing season is starting in Vermont, and our Orvis Endorsed fly-fishing program offers you the opportunity to come closer to the pull of the current this year. Our expert guides provide excursions unlike any other! Here are some of the best trips we offer for all experience levels:
- For the fishing newbie: Our Educational Excursion provides real-time instruction and education on casting, flies, strategies, conservation, and more. You’ll come away with knowledge to fish on your own and an Orvis fly-fishing book to continue learning.
- For the sightseer: The River Raft Excursion takes you down a large local river as you cast from atop the raft. You’ll get to see Vermont’s landscape while you try your luck fishing for trout, bass, or pike.
- For the experienced angler: Our Small Stream Excursions provide challenge and reward as you explore the beautiful brooks that wind through Vermont woodlands. We even have a rare US Forestry Permit for the adventure of a lifetime in the Green Mountain National Forest for the most accomplished anglers.
Pride of Woodstock
The very first Pride of Woodstock, Vermont is happening May 30-June 2! We are thrilled to be part of this inclusive community event as it kicks-off a new annual tradition. The weekend of colorful events throughout the village includes tea dances, LGBTQ+ movies, craft fairs, Gay Trivia Night in Richardson’s Tavern, Drag Brunch in the Rockefeller Room, and the highlight of the weekend – the High Heel Race down Elm Street! We welcome everyone year-round, but we especially hope you will join us to celebrate the beginning of Pride month! If you book with our Preferred Pride Package, you’ll have a welcome amenity included.
First Day at The Farm!
Local Billings Farm & Museum is opening for the season soon, and we couldn’t be more excited for all the family fun it brings. Woodstock Inn guests always receive complimentary admission to meet the animals, see the art exhibits, explore the gardens, learn about life and history of the farm, and so much more! These are some of the top reasons you should stop by Billings Farm when you’re in Woodstock:
- See the 3pm milking every day! Where else do you get to watch and learn from a real dairy operation?
- Take a horse-drawn ride! Wagon or sleigh, the two horse teams the farm has are gentle giants who love to show guests around the farm.
- See the new Barn Quilt Exhibit. These barn quilts are adding fun color to the barns all around Billings Farm. Made by local artists and school students, the vibrant designs stand out and add a new reason to explore the grounds.
- Grab a dairy-sweet treat. Ice cream, grilled cheese, or their own award-winning cheddar, you can’t go wrong with a bite while you’re at Billings Farm.
