Stick Season Splendor
The first frost of the year has iced the grounds in Woodstock, Vermont and the chill in the air is a welcome hint of what’s to come. The rustle of the fallen leaves on the ground and the lasting foliage up in the golden oaks provide a pleasant soundtrack as the town quiets down after the hubbub of autumn tourism. Locals have long called this time of year between foliage and winter “stick season” though you may have heard the phrase in Vermont-born musician Noah Kahan’s top album and title track. To us, stick season is a peaceful deep breath before the excitement of the holidays and the wild winter season dances into town. So, get cozy and take in the season's splendor while we prepare for what’s next!
Culinary Celebrations
Executive Chef Matthew McClure has fabulous feasts planned for our Inn Guests from turkey day to cozy cassoulets in January! To start, our elaborate Thanksgiving Dinner Buffet is serving up a delicious menu of favorites and new flavors! Next up, a special menu for Wassail Weekend in the Red Rooster, followed by our classic Christmas Dinner spread with hearty winter entrees and festive desserts on the menu. New Year’s Eve is full of toasts, treats, and tinsel with a decadent 3-course dinner, followed by a NYE Party with live music and desserts in the Rockefeller Room. On January 18, we are planning a unique dinner of cassoulets with special guest and award-winning writer, Sylvie Bigar. Stay tuned for more details on this robust winter meal.
Snowy Slopes
Break out the skis, dust off the snowboards, and get ready for ski and ride season! Here are our favorite ways to get outside and make the most of the snowy slopes:
- Take an alpine ski lesson with the snow sports professionals at our resort-owned Saskadena Six ski area.
- Cross-country ski historic carriage trails in Vermont’s only national park with a day pass from our Woodstock Nordic Center.
- Snowboard the 28 trails, including the famous race slope “The Face” at Saskadena Six.
- Purchase Saskadena Six Flex Tickets to redeem any day during the season – great for gifting!
- Tow the little ones in a Pulk Sled while you Snowshoe the winding network of woods paths on Mt. Peg leading to views of the Woodstock Village.
