Blooming Architecture
It wouldn’t be late summer without seeing the yellow flowering faces in a sunflower patch. Here in Woodstock, Vermont we’ve taken the usual sunflower field in an incredibly fun direction! Welcome to our Annual Sunflower House at Billings Farm. For the fourth year our master gardener, Benjamin Pauly has constructed hallways, rooms, and secret nooks all within the living stalks and blooming buds of sunflowers! Every year the house takes on new architecture and new varieties of the sunny blooms welcome visitors to explore and share the joy that sunflowers bring (hello perfect Instagram op - #VTSunflowerHouse). Our local pollinators love it too! Bees, butterflies, and hummingbirds all visit the garden display and in turn, help our ecosystem. The Sunflower House at Billings Farm & Museum opens July 30. Full bloom is estimated as mid-August.

Lunch Refresh
Woodstock's hidden gem of al fresco dining is located at our Woodstock Country Club. The Fairway Grill is sometimes called our best-kept secret lunch spot. - Spinach & Berry Salad complete with local Feta cheese and Vermont maple candied walnuts!
- The Crispy Chicken Sandwich with honey hot sauce and garden vegetable slaw.
- The Mt. Peg Mojito using fresh mint is the best kind of lightly sweetened summer lunch refresher.
Dive Into Summer
Hot summer days require a cool spot to take a dip! Whether it’s our outdoor pool, a local river, or a nearby lake, Woodstock, Vermont has a spot to swim in every direction.
- At the Inn, our outdoor saltwater pool is a convenient and cool place to lounge and soak in the water. Swimming is also available at our Athletic Club’s indoor pool.
- Walk to swimming spots in the Ottauquechee River right by the Woodstock Village, like below the bridge on Elm Street (take the path on the right immediately after the bridge), or behind the Woodstock Rec Center.
- A quick drive to nearby Quechee offers two deep spots in the Ottauquechee River to jump in! Below the covered bridge by Simon Pearce is a favorite spot for locals, and the Quechee Gorge makes its own lazy river as it winds through rock ravines below Dewey’s Mill Dam.
- For a day lakeside, take the quick drive to Barnard and find yourself at Silver Lake. Enjoy the beach area for swimming, fish along the shore, or explore the whole lake by boat!
