The Gold Before The Snow
Our grand lobby fireplace has been lit for the season, the front lawn is frosty each morning, and in the air, there is a crisp chill that sparks vigor as you walk through the Woodstock Village with a warm cup of coffee in hand. Yes, November is here! The amber oaks still rustle in the breeze and shine golden in the sun as their leaves are the last to fall and mark the commencement of winter. As the holiday and ski seasons approach, we look forward to many outdoor adventures followed by joyful warmth with family and friends.
Here We Come A-Wassailing
Woodstock’s Wassail Weekend is back in full force with outdoor celebrations December 10-12! Take the family to Billings Farm & Museum anytime for traditions like candle dipping, barns decked out in holiday style, and scrumptious libations like cider donuts and Wassail punch. The party kicks off Friday with an Irish Christmas Performance at the local theater.
Saturday is full of celebrations starting with an early morning Krampuslauf Race up Suicide 6 Ski Area before carriage rides, a Wassail town scavenger hunt, ornament making, food on the village green, and of course the Annual Equestrian Parade – the Wassail Weekend highlight at 2pm. Afterwards enjoy carols, outdoor fires, the Lighting of the Luminaries, and holiday concerts. Complete the celebration on Sunday with a visit from Santa, holiday movies, and more caroling!
A Winter Warmer
Cheers to you! Even if we can’t celebrate the holidays with you in person, we want to raise a glass with you from afar. This seasonal bar favorite named the Sazerac will warm you up from the inside out and is best enjoyed fireside with friends and family. You’ll need Whiskey (we use High West Whiskey), Simple Syrup, Angostura Bitters, Absente Anise Liqueur, an Orange Peel & Ice.
- Fill a shaker ¾ full of Ice. Add 2 oz of Whiskey, ½ oz of Simple Syrup & 2 dashes of Angostura Bitters. Cover and shake this mixture for 5 seconds.
- In a rocks glass, pour a small amount of Absente in and wash it around inside of the glass. Dump the Absente out so that only what is coating the glass remains.
- Strain the shaker mix into the rocks glass. Add the Orange Peel & enjoy!
