Golf is Better Together
Okay, let’s get right to it: this is the final On the Green newsletter. With golf season coming into full swing throughout the country, we’ll all be too busy tracking stats and winning our local Sunday morning skins game for a newsletter anyway, right? After twelve months of golf insight from Vermont and around the country we’re shifting focuses but will continue to tell the full Woodstock Inn & Resort story through periodic newsletters, which you’ll receive in your inbox.
On my way out, I wanted to share a thought I had after the Masters: golf is better together. Yes, that sounds a bit like the tagline for a future USGA campaign but indulge me for a minute.
Since The Masters earlier this month, I’ve seen a lot of pontifications around the tournament’s results. Particularly related to LIV golf’s better-than-expected showing. The punchline to all that banter was this: “See, this proves that LIV golf is right, and the PGA Tour is wrong.” Leaving out the fact that The Masters has nothing to do with the PGA Tour, my takeaway from the final leaderboard was the opposite: the latest Masters’ result proves that golf is better together.
The excitement felt as Brooks Koepka returned to his 2017-2019 dominant form was amazing. The energy around Phil Mickelson becoming the oldest player to finish in the top five at The Masters was electric. Jon Rahm winning The Masters on his idol Seve Ballesteros’ birthday was storybook. Meanwhile, tour stalwarts Rory McIlroy and Tiger Woods faded on either side of the cut, Tiger withdrawing after a record tying effort to make the weekend. This is the beauty of golf. The parody that played out over 72 holes in The Masters is the reason a divided professional game is a lesser product.
One thing is clear to me after last weekend: golf is better together. With that in mind, let’s gather “on the green” one more time. Read on for some simple ways we can come together and play the game we love.

Fairgame App
The Fairgame App was created by professional golfer Adam Scott and entrepreneur Ben Clymer to be “golf’s digital clubhouse.” Some have dubbed it a dating app for golfers…but instead of going on dates, golfers can find tee times and golf games in their local area with fellow golf fanatics. With its beautiful design and ease of use, Fairgame makes tracking scores and finding new golf friends incredibly fun and intuitive.
