August Excitement

The last weeks of summer vacation are upon us, and the days are full of leisure and adventure! Classic Vermont sunshine is making a comeback during the first week of August, with ideal weather for activities like golfing, hiking, biking, and tennis. Gardens are flourishing with flowers and produce blooming and growing every day. As the cooler evenings roll in, the outdoor firepit is aflame with s’mores fixings, the manicured back lawn is perfect for a cocktail and friendly chat, and the cozy nooks at the Inn are ready for curling up with a good book. As anticipation builds for another vibrant Vermont fall and the kids make the most of the season before school begins, we welcome you to embrace the excitement of August in Woodstock, Vermont.

Vermont Sunflower House

Sunflowers for Summer

The annual Sunflower House at Billings Farm is a must-see by the end of summer! The stunning display of over 100 varieties of the happy blooms create a structure-like garden. Wander the hallways and find yourself in rooms with the walls made from the tall stalks or the lush petals. The garden display is unique each year, and changes throughout the season as new blooms open and the flowers grow taller.

It is the perfect place for a smiling photo op (#VTSunflowerHouse!), for kids to explore the different colors and textures that nature creates, for you to observe the busy pollinators like bees and butterflies in action, or to relax and enjoy the masterpiece as you breathe the fresh Vermont air. Don’t miss Sunflower Sunday for a mindful morning on August 20!
