First of Fall
As the nights begin to creep in on the daylight hours and the morning chill sinks into the valley, we are reminded that the first of fall is on its way. Labor Day has come and gone with its beautiful weather and leisurely activities, and we are starting to feel the excitement of foliage build. The first leaves have begun to change to their fall colors, with the majority of trees still holding onto the green hue for a grand show from late September through October. The autumn season brings fresh harvests from our organic Kelly Way Gardens, great weather for fun like bike rides and tennis games, and of course, so many colorful reasons to sightsee among the Vermont hills!
Hiking For Leaves
This time of year, the pathway is the destination! With the changing foliage overhead, underfoot, and lining the trails of our local mountains, you will be sightseeing for your entire hike. Here are a few of our favorite nearby spots to hike for leaves (and views!).
- Mt. Peg: The Summit Trail is a short, moderate hike with a trailhead ¼ mile from the Inn. Hike the wooded path that leads to beautiful views of the Woodstock valley.
- Mt. Tom: The Faulkner Trail is a moderate trail (with one rocky section!) that winds up through the forest to panoramic views of the Woodstock Village. Accessible right from the Inn!
- Marsh-Billings-Rockefeller National Historical Park: Vermont’s only national park is also located on Mt. Tom! The beautiful carriage trails vary in difficulty and meander through historic woodlands and around a pond called “The Pogue.”
Bee Pampered
The Spa is full of sweet fall spices with the organic products used in the newest Seasonal Body Treatment. “Bee Pampered” features an exfoliating whipped honey scrub to start with notes of clove and nutmeg combined with rice bran oil to leave radiant, soft skin. A honey moisturizing wrap delivers sweet spices and live fruit cells to heal and pamper. While wrapped, our experienced providers perform a wild lime scalp massage and peppermint foot massage to reinvigorate! Your treatment is topped off with everyone’s favorite, a spiced pumpkin lotion. Select a lotion application, focus massage, or full body massage to conclude your experience.
