Vermont’s Fresh Air is Calling

Savoring Summer & Welcoming Fall

Late summer is a special time where the leisurely days call to you to relax in the shade by the riverbend, but at the same time it feels as though summer itself is floating downstream and will soon be out of view. As summer fades away, you’ll begin to catch a glimpse of fall’s vibrant colors that are just around the corner. We love this time of year and hope you can join us in Woodstock, Vermont so we can show you why.

Late Summer, Full Bloom

Gardens love the late summer in Vermont, and our Resort’s organic Kelly Way Gardens are in full bloom! Butterflies and honeybees flutter across flowers, fruits, and produce while our gardeners are hard at work harvesting fresh ingredients for our chefs.
Here are some late summer garden highlights:

  • Tomatoes! Our “Tomato Whisperer” and Master Gardener, Benjamin Pauly is a connoisseur of sorts. We have over 55 varieties growing in our tomato tunnels at Kelly Way Gardens, so stop by to taste a few!

  • Garden Displays! The 2nd Annual Sunflower House at Billings Farm & Museum is a must-visit during August and September. Walk through the maze-like hallways and explore the rooms where living walls sway and all colors of blooming flowers stretch high above you. Stepping into our Gourdwalk in Kelly Way Gardens is like being transported into a magical tunnel. Stroll beneath the greenery and among the hanging gourds for an other-worldly experience.

Always Time for Adventure

There is no shortage of things to discover during your stay with us. This time of year often gives us perfect temperatures for exploring the nature surrounding Woodstock.
Here are our 3 favorite outdoor activities for this time of year:

  • Fly-Fishing with our Orvis Endorsed Guides is both picturesque and timely as the waters cool down and the trees begin to transform. Beginner and seasoned anglers will not forget a day spent in the clear rivers and streams beneath Vermont’s autumn maples with our expert fly-fishing guides.

  • A hands-on Falconry experience with quintessential Vermont farmland as your backdrop is the perfect way to make memories. Our experienced falconers teach you about this ancient sport of kings while you get to meet and handle our magnificent birds of prey.

  • Leaf-peeping is THE autumn adventure for locals and visitors alike. Our Resort Activity Center will show you all the best routes for Vermont fall scenery. Whether your preferred mode of viewing is by bicycle, car, or your own two feet, our guides and local experts will help you find magnificent foliage.

Change Your Scenery

If your work-from-home office is holding you captive, we invite you to change your scenery and join us to plug-in indoors or outside and Work-Away in Woodstock! Sending e-mails while you enjoy the Vermont fresh air, Zoom calls with red maple trees in the background, and plenty of extra curriculars for the kids. Soon the hillsides will be painted with the warm colors of autumn and you shouldn’t miss it.

We don’t want to get too far ahead of ourselves, but fall will indubitably fly by and then comes the snow. Before we know it, we’ll be dusting off our skis and snowboards for winter recreation. So, here’s to looking ahead and enjoying the rest of 2020!
