The White River Open is back! Fish our local White River in this fun trout tournament (most inches caught wins!) with proceeds going to the White River Partnership. #WRO23!

Categories: Pro Class, Amateur Class, Youth Class (Under 18)
Rules: The event is for Fly-Fishing with Catch & Release Trout only. Point system: 1” equals 1 point. Earn an extra 10 points if you bring a bag of trash back! Must be a 6” trout to qualify for measurement. Catch a fish, measure, take a pic, and release. Keep 'em wet, use a net!
Boundaries: The White River (From the headwaters to above the confluence of the Connecticut River) and its Tributaries. If a tributary ends up flowing into the White River, then it is fishable. Connecticut River fish do not count.
Dates & Times:
Friday, June 2
6:00-7:30pm: Registration and welcome party social at the Woodstock Inn & Resort Fly Shop (located in the Activity Center). Enter raffles to win fishing gear!
Saturday, June 3
Sunrise - 2:00pm: Fishing Tournament!
12:00-2:00pm: Check-In at Crossroads in South Royalton, VT (108 Rainbow St, South Royalton, VT). Stay for the After Party following check-in! Participants and friends are welcome to gather at Crossroads for food and drink. A portion of the food and drink proceeds will go to the White River Partnership. Awesome prizes will be awarded to the winners of each division, and more fishing gear will be raffled off! Winners for each division with the most inches/points and special prize for overall longest fish caught!
Entry & Registration:
Entry Fees: Adults $30.00. Youth $20.00. Registrations can be taken online, phone, email, or in-person at the Fly Shop through Friday, June 2. fish@woodstockinn.com, 802-457-5530. All Registration Fees are non-refundable. Refunds will not be offered. Contact us if you cannot attend and we can push your registration forward to next year’s tournament. No same-day registration.
Registration Gift: All participants will receive a limited edition Woodstock Inn & Resort Fly Fishing/Samantha Aronson "Olive Wooly Bugger" Stainless Muir Pint Cup!
Forms: Valid Vermont Fishing License Required. Liability waiver will be signed online or at Registration on Friday evening. You must sign waiver before participating in the tournament.

Proceeds to the White River Partnership: The White River Partnership (WRP) is a membership-based, 501(c)(3), nonprofit organization formed in 1996 by a group of local people who shared common concerns about the long-term health of the White River and its watershed. The WRP envisions a White River watershed in which individuals and communities work together to make informed decisions that protect and improve water quality, fish and wildlife habitat, flood resilience, and recreational river access.
