Celebrating Legacy

As we celebrate our country’s 250th anniversary of independence with local events like Woodstock Town Fireworks, the Firecracker 5K Run, and Billings Farm’s 4th on the Farm, we also think about the legacy of hospitality intertwined with our history. Just twenty years after the signing of the Declaration of Independence, Captain Israel Richardson built one of Woodstock's first lodging accommodations in 1793 on the same approximate site of the current Inn. As tourism flourished, the grand Woodstock Inn opened in 1892, earning a reputation for gracious hospitality, elegant accommodations, and becoming Vermont's first winter sports destination. Laurance Rockefeller ensured its legacy would continue by purchasing the property in 1967 and reopening the newly rebuilt Woodstock Inn in 1969. As America commemorates 250 years of independence, we're proud to carry forward a tradition that has welcomed guests for generations and serves as a reminder that while history is measured in milestones, it is sustained through the people and places that continue to bring us together.

Summertime Greens

Our Woodstock Country Club is in superb condition and is really showing off why Vermont is called the ‘Green’ Mountain State. The 18-hole championship course offers a round of golf that feels as much about the landscape as it does about the sport itself. Rich in history and thoughtfully maintained, the challenge of water crossings, scenic forest backdrops, and the joy of the game all combine for a classic day of Vermont golf, complete with a welcoming restaurant and bar, and a friendly Golf Shop.
