July 4th at Billings Farm & Museum
Picnic outdoors, visit the farm animals, play outdoor games and hear historic speeches as Billings Farm & Museum spreads its annual Old Vermont July 4th celebrations over three days.
Enjoy an easy hike along the Walking Trail by the Ottauquechee River and see the farm from a different view. The Dairy Bar will reopen to serve ice cream for the holiday weekend, so grab a cone and tour the new Heifer Barn with its state-of-the-art features such as climate-controlled curtains and ventilation. Explore the Farm Life Exhibits and learn about 19th-century farming and domestic life.
Families can take our Story Walk along the pasture fences and partake in traditional games like hopscotch. Visit the gardens and see the Sunflower Garden in its infancy. Bring a blanket and have your picnic lunch on the grounds while taking in the scenic views of our Jersey cows, sheep, and horses in the pastures.
Due to COVID-19 safety precautions, some traditional events, such as historic baseball, will not take place this year and the barns and 1890 Farm Manager’s House will be closed to the public.
