Summer with a Hint of Fall
Love this time of year!
It truly is a special time of the year as the summer warmth feels endless, yet mother nature starts to throw color on the canvas of her fall masterpiece. Locals may call it the "tweener time", others don’t want summer to end, and many of us long for the arrival of fall colors which are simply amazing in Woodstock, VT. Our schedule of autumn events and activities is plentiful, so we hope you can join us.
The Tomato Whisperer
Yes, we have “THE” Tomato Whisperer! With over 55 varieties rolling off the vine in our Kelly Way Gardens, our Master Gardener Benjamin Pauly wants you to taste them all. Each year he adds more heirlooms to the tomato tunnel and offers some very fun tasting events. Fresh produce can’t stay out of our Chef's hands, so be prepared to see this delicious fruit incorporated into our seasonal dishes. Here are a few examples.
She Casts – September 28-29, 2019
It is in the name! Our Orvis Endorsed Fly-Fishing Lodge program is offering a special women’s-only weekend where ladies will enjoy fly-fishing together on local rivers and at the Meccawe Trout Club. The weekend, led by our team of energetic, Orvis-endorsed guides still has spots open for women anglers of any level. We’ll outfit you with all the Orvis gear you’ll need for a weekend of fishing, friends, and fall foliage in Vermont!
Sunflower House
On your next visit in late summer and early fall, you must stroll over to Billings Farm where our Master Gardener has designed a house made of Sunflowers. The hallways move and grow, and the rooms have sunny blooms adorning the walls like artwork. Explore the acre of maze-like paths with friends and family, and marvel in the late summer joy that these shining flowers bring.
Red Barn Dinners – Fall
We keep calling out our Red Barn Dinners for a very good reason. They are simply the best culinary experience in Vermont. On almost every Sunday night until the mid-October chill sets in, we host a four-course meal in the renovated historic barn at our Kelly Way Gardens. Many of you have joined us here previously and raved about this literal garden-to-fork experience. Collaboration of Chef and Gardener is the key here. Not only will you eat outstanding, locally sourced cuisine, you will have a behind-the-scenes view of cooking, gardening, and expertly chosen wines. Plan ahead and reserve your seat at the table for this special experience.
Fall’s Top Five ‘things to do’ at the Resort.

- Falconry – The Local’s Tip: You’ll have an amazing view of foliage from the Falconry Center, and you don’t want to miss meeting the Eagle-Owl named Frederick.
- Fall Golf – The Local’s Tip: Our 18-hole course along Mt. Peg pairs a round of golf with scenic leaf peeping – that’s 2 holes in one!
